Dutch government rejects Palestinian initiative

The Dutch government rejected a Palestinian initiative Thursday [30.06] to seek UN recognition of a Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal to seek support for the plan to seek statehood at the UN General Assembly in September, although membership of a new state must be endorsed by the Security Council, where it could be vetoed by the US and others.

But Rosenthal bluntly rejected the idea of the Palestinian initiative going to the General Assembly. “No, it will not be supported by the Netherlands,” Rosenthal told reporters.

Instead, Rosenthal called for a resumption of “direct negotiations, right now” between Israel and the Palestinians.

Bem, o Governo Holandês me surpreenderia se dissesse o contrário, pois desde que tem o o extremista e racista anti-Islâmico, Geert Wilders, líder do PVV, partido que suporta a coligação governamental, as suas políticas foram sempre em dissonância com aquilo que a União Europeia, por exemplo, advoga em relação ao Estado Palestiniano.

É preciso ainda contextualizar esta posição dos holandeses na missão que a direita europeia tem tido que é de cegamente apoiar Israel em detrimento da Palestina na perspectiva de que o que é Judeu é bom e o que é Muçulmano é mau.

Por outro lado, é inútil falar de negociações quando é sempre a Palestina que tem que ceder, que tem que renunciar à violência, que tem que respeitar as Resoluções do Conselho de de Segurança da ONU enquanto que ao colonizador Israel lhe é tudo pertimitido com o beneplácito dos Estados Unidos da América. Aliás, Israel é o único país do mundo que não respeita as Resoluções do Conselho de Segurança das ONU e não sofre nenhuma sansão.
